UAE Golden Visa
Overview
The UAE Golden Visa is a long-term residence visa granted to foreign investors, entrepreneurs, highly skilled professionals, researchers, outstanding students, and others with exceptional talents. It allows eligible individuals to live, work, or study in the UAE with exclusive benefits, including self-sponsorship and renewable 10-year validity. The visa is part of the UAE’s strategy to attract global talent and foster economic growth.
Residency Duration
Initial Validity: 5 or 10 years, depending on category (renewable indefinitely).
No sponsor required: Applicants can self-sponsor without a local employer or Emirati citizen.
Continuous stay not mandatory: Golden Visa holders are not subject to the 6-month rule (i.e., can stay outside the UAE for over 6 months without invalidating the visa).
Processing Time
Initial Review: 2–4 weeks (pre-approval or nomination)
Medical, ID & Visa Stamping: 1–2 additional weeks after pre-approval
Full Process Duration: ~3–6 weeks total

There are multiple pathways to the Golden Visa. Common categories include:
1. Investors (Real Estate or Business)
Real Estate:
Investment of at least AED 2 million (~€500,000) in property
Property must be retained for at least 3 years
Business Investment:
Shareholder or business owner of a UAE-registered company
Demonstrate AED 2 million+ capital or equivalent annual revenue
2. Skilled Professionals
Occupation must be in level 1 or 2 of UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources classification (e.g., doctors, engineers, IT, legal)
Minimum Salary: AED 30,000/month (~€7,500)
Academic Degree: Must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher
3. Scientists, Researchers & PhDs
Requires recommendation from Emirates Scientists Council or academic accreditation
Must have notable publications, R&D experience, or international recognition
4. Entrepreneurs & Startups
Owner of a startup registered in the UAE with a minimum capital of AED 500,000, or
Part of an approved business incubator, or
Recognized by UAE’s National Business Incubator Program
5. Outstanding Students & Graduates
Exceptional academic records (GPA of 3.8+/4.0 or equivalent)
Graduated from top-ranked local or international universities
6. Creative Talents & Artists
Includes writers, musicians, filmmakers, designers, and performers
