Spain FIP Visa
Overview
The Spain Non-Lucrative Visa allows financially independent non-EU/EEA nationals to reside in Spain without working or conducting business activities. It is designed for individuals with sufficient passive income or savings, such as retirees, remote income earners, or those with investments, who can support themselves and their dependents. The visa is ideal for those seeking to enjoy Spain’s high quality of life, culture, and access to the Schengen Area without employment obligations.
Residency Duration
- Initial Duration: The visa is granted for one year initially.
- Renewal: Renewable for 4 year increments, provided financial and residency requirements are met (e.g., spending at least 183 days per year in Spain).
- Path to Permanent Residency: After five years of continuous legal residence, holders can apply for a long-term residence permit, which allows indefinite stay with fewer renewal requirements.
- Citizenship: After 10 years of continuous residence, applicants may be eligible to apply for Spanish citizenship, though this typically requires renouncing other nationalities (with exceptions for certain countries).
