The Portugal Student Visa is designed for non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals who wish to study in Portugal for a period longer than 90 days. It allows students to reside in Portugal while enrolled in an approved educational institution.

- Proof of financial means (approx. €820/month or bank statement showing sufficient funds)
- Health insurance covering medical expenses in Portugal
- Criminal record certificate from country of residence
- Flight reservation (optional but recommended)
- Paid visa fee receipt
Academic transcripts or qualifications (may be required)
- Non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizen
- Accepted into a full-time accredited program at a Portuguese institution (bachelor’s, master’s, PhD, or exchange program)
- Financially self-sufficient
- Clean criminal record
- Valid travel insurance and accommodation proof
- Apply and receive acceptance from a Portuguese university or institution.
- Gather documents as per embassy requirements.
- Schedule an appointment at the Portuguese consulate/embassy in your home country.
- Submit visa application with required documents and biometrics.
- Wait for visa approval (receive a long-stay D visa).
- Travel to Portugal with a student visa.
Within 90 days of arrival, book an SEF appointment - Receive residence card (Autorização de Residência) after approval.
Must not be outside the country more than 183 days
