Overview:
The Portugal D7 Visa, also known as the Passive Income or Retirement Visa, is designed for non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens who wish to reside in Portugal and have a reasonable passive income. It is ideal for retirees, remote workers, freelancers, and individuals living off investments or rental income.
Residency Duration:
- Initial residency permit: 2 years
- Renewable for: 3 additional years
- After 5 years: Eligibility for permanent residency or citizenship

Dependents: € 2,000

Processing Time:
- Consulate application: 2–3 months
- SEF (residence permit) appointment: 2–4 months after visa approval
- Total time to residency card: ~4–6 months

- Minimum passive monthly income of €820 (as of 2024), more for dependents
- Clean criminal record
- Proof of accommodation in Portugal
- Valid health insurance
- Ability to reside in Portugal for at least 183 days per year
