5 Exciting Announcements at the World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai
The World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai has concluded, but its impact continues to resonate. Held from February 11 to 13, this prestigious event brought together leaders and representatives from governments worldwide to discuss crucial topics such as artificial intelligence, clean energy, innovation, and technology. Beyond insightful discussions, Dubai also unveiled several groundbreaking projects set to transform the city’s future—and perhaps the world.
Here are five major projects announced at the World Government Summit 2025:
1. Dubai Loop
The innovative Dubai Loop was introduced during a virtual session featuring Elon Musk and Omar Al Olama, UAE’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications. Designed to connect Dubai’s densely populated areas, this advanced transportation system will rapidly transport passengers from one part of the city to another. Musk likened it to a “wormhole,” explaining that travelers will enter a station and appear at another location within fractions of a second. The project will feature 11 stations and is expected to operate at a speed of 160 km/h, accommodating 20,000 passengers per hour.
2. RailBus – The Future of Sustainable Transport
RailBus is a futuristic, solar-powered public transportation system introduced as a sustainable and efficient urban mobility solution. Aligned with the UAE’s “Net Zero 2050” strategy, this project supports the goal of making 25% of Dubai’s urban transport autonomous by 2030. RailBus will be constructed using 3D printing technology and recycled materials, with a capacity of 40 passengers per unit. Operating on elevated tracks across the city, it represents one of the most advanced sustainable transportation methods.
3. Seaglider – A Hybrid Airplane-Boat for Intercity Travel
Billy Thalheimer, founder and CEO of Regent Craft, unveiled the Seaglider at the summit. This fully electric vehicle combines the speed of an airplane with the accessibility of a boat, designed for short-distance coastal trips, such as Dubai to Abu Dhabi. Utilizing the “wing-in-ground effect”—a technology with over 60 years of history—the Seaglider can reach speeds of up to 290 km/h, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities. Impressively, the cost of a Seaglider ticket will be just 165 AED, making it an affordable alternative to traditional travel options.
4. Therme Dubai – The World’s Largest Wellness Destination
During the summit, details of a 2 billion AED mega project, Therme Dubai, were shared with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. Set to become the world’s largest and tallest wellness destination, this landmark will feature unique attractions such as an indoor waterfall, botanical gardens, and a water park. Covering 500,000 square feet and reaching a height of 100 meters, the complex will offer visitors luxurious facilities, including diverse thermal pools, dedicated relaxation areas, and high-end restaurants.
5. The Blue Visa – Residency for Environmental Experts
Following the success of the Green Visa and Golden Visa, the UAE introduced the first phase of the Blue Visa at the 2025 summit—a major announcement for environmental professionals. In its initial rollout, 20 sustainability leaders from international organizations, corporations, associations, and NGOs will receive this visa. Available to individuals both inside and outside the UAE, the initiative aims to attract top talents in sustainability to help build a greener future for the UAE and beyond.
